Virtual Grow Group, Episode No. 11: Philippians 4:4-9

Updated: May 12, 2021

May 28, 2020

Conversation of the Week:

In his book Life Together, written while in teaching in a secret, illegal seminary in Nazi Germany during World War 2, Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote:

“God put [his] Word into the mouth of human beings so that it may be passed on to others. When people are deeply affected by the Word, they tell it to other people. God has willed that we should seek and find God’s living Word in the testimony of other Christians, in the mouths of human beings. Therefore, Christians need other Christians who speak God’s Word to them. They need them again and again when they become uncertain and disheartened because, living by their own resources, they cannot help themselves without cheating themselves out of the truth. They need other Christians as bearers and proclaimers of the divine word of salvation. They need them solely for the sake of Jesus Christ. The Christ in their own hearts is weaker than the Christ in the word of other Christians. Their own hearts are uncertain; those of their brothers and sisters are sure.”

Who do you know who needs to hear God's Word spoken to them with faith? What Word do they need to hear?

Who do you need to ask to speak God's Word with confidence to your own uncertain heart?

Resources of the Week:

Next Week’s Episode: Philippians 4:10–23

Bear Creek plans for a careful, wise, phased regathering beginning on Sunday, June, 7, 2020. We will not resume in-person gathering of our adult Grow Groups (or other age-group ministries) on that day, but we will continue to provide online resources to encourage and equip you for this unique season of discipleship.

Tune in to our next episode of Virtual Grow Group for the conclusion of our study of Philippians and for a sneak peak at our exciting plans for what's next for Virtual Grow Group and our Grow Group Zoom gatherings!
