9 “And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:9-12  (NASB1995)

The Idea:

The arrival of this baby King means something astounding — you can have full joy.

The Joy This King Brings

I. His First Arrival Radiates Joy

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;”

Luke 2:10  (NASB1995)

“But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.”

John 17:13 (NASB1995)

II. His Second Arrival Restores Joy

“Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.”

John 16:22  (NASB1995)

4 “and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Revelation 21:4-5 (NASB1995)

Everything bad will be UN-done.

Everything sad will become untrue.
