16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,
17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
The Idea:
An offer of pure, unmitigated, unapologetic encouragement.
1. For your circumstances
"35 Who will separate us from the love of [a]Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
36 Just as it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us."
Romans 8:35-37 (NASB)
“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”
1 John 4:4 (KJV)
“ … Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”
Romans 8:34 (NASB 1995)
"Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."
Hebrews 7:25 (ESV)
2. For your inner life
Encouragement for your fears, failures and pain
"33 And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them,
34 saying, “The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon.” "
Luke 24:33–34 (NASB)
3. For the journey you’re on
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6 (NASB)
What God starts - He finishes.
If you are a follower of Jesus - He’s not finished with you.
And He’s NOT finished with me yet.
