God’s Design
God created a world of perfect beauty, purpose, and design. He created our souls to reflect and express these as well.
"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
But, we know there is something wrong – wrong with the created world and something wrong in us.
Our Brokenness
There is a brokenness inside each of us that we all feel. Sometimes we feel self-condemned, sometimes we feel empty, sometimes really isolated and alone. The brokenness we feel is our soul malfunctioning. Our soul is damaged by our sin - our pulling away from God’s design for us and going our own way - creating a separation between us and God.
“… your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,…”
The Bible says this separation is unfixable on our own.
BUT, we are loved more than we ever dreamed. God loves us so much that He was willing to send a part of Himself, Jesus His Son, to die on the cross for us in order to bring us back to God.
The Gospel
The way we experience God’s forgiveness and the new life He wants to put in us is to embrace the gospel.
This happens by repentance and belief.
Repent means to turn to God and away from my separation from Him.
Belief means to fully rely upon all that Christ did on the cross for me.
When we embrace the gospel, asking for Christ to be the Lord and leader of our lives, we experience restoration and recovery. God begins to heal the brokenness inside us and restore the beauty, design, and purpose we had lost.
"This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven—makes us right in God’s sight—when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith."
