Romans 8:31 “if God is for us, who can be against us?”

"This I know, that God is for me.” Psalm 56:9 (NASB1995)

5 “From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place.

6 The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?”

Psalm 118:5-6 (NASB1995)

The Question:

If God is for us -- What does that even mean?

If God is for us –

1. He promises to give you everything essential, meaningful, and enduring.

“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

Romans 8:32 (NASB1995)

“However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”

2. It means you can live free of self-condemnation.

1 “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 God [sent] His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin,”

Romans 8:1-3 (NASB1995)

3. It means that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is in you

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

Romans 8:11  (NASB1995)

4. it means the Holy Spirit enters your weakness

“In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;”

Romans 8:26  (NASB1995)

5. It means God is working everything for your good

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28  (NASB1995)

21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”

John 14:21, 23  (NASB1995)

6. It means that nothing can ever defeat you

35 “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”

Romans 8:35, 37 (NASB1995)

7. It means nothing can tear you away from his love

38 “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39 (NASB1995)
