11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us…
Titus 2:11–14 (NIV)
The Idea
Christmas morning calls you to – anticipate the arrival of Jesus.
Not the expected one, rather the unexpected one.
The Contrasts of His Arrivals …
1. He first came in weakness
… let that show you how to live in the here and now.
"while we wait for the blessed hope— the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ"
Titus 2:13
2. He will come again in power
… let that fuel your anticipation of who you will become.
"while we wait for the blessed hope— the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ"
Titus 2:13
"11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”"
Revelation 19:11–16 (NASB1995)
3. What should anticipating His arrival do in me?
… let that grow a godly life in you.
"while we wait for the blessed hope— the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ"
Titus 2:13
