He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
This passage brings us such hope as we read about the supremacy of God’s Son. In the Old Testament, God used prophets or specific individuals to speak to His people. Verse 2 shows us that God used Jesus to speak to us, and believers now have the Holy Spirit and God’s written Word to commune with God. Through Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins on the cross, He completed God’s mission for salvation to reconnect us back with God. Genesis 2 briefly shows how God designed our lives — complete community with God. Hebrews reminds us that Jesus sits on the throne with God and is superior to any problem or situation we face today. God desires us to have a deep relationship with Him so we might find comfort and hope in His name alone. Jesus will one day return, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that He alone is God. As believers, we can rest in the hope Jesus provides that our souls are safe in His hands.
Father, thank you for the hope we can find in You, as only you provide peace beyond understanding. We praise You for your plan of salvation, as You desire every being to know You intimately. Help us to live our lives daily in the hope that Jesus brings and to turn to you through every circumstance. Amen.
