The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

The picture of hope, the Lamb of God, the fulfillment of the sacrifice of God would provide on behalf of His people. The reality of Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God provides great hope for all who look to Him. Apart from the sacrifice of the Lamb of God in our place we had no hope and were lost eternally to be judged for our sinful rebellion against God. Christ’s arrival, and public introduction by John the Baptist, was the clear beginning of the public ministry of Jesus, making clear that God’s prophesied Messiah had arrived. John the Baptist also makes Christ’s position clear, by stating that John is not worthy to tie his sandal, that Jesus ranks before him, that Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit (as opposed to John’s baptism of simply water), and that Jesus is the Son of God. John faithfully proclaimed the First Coming of Christ and where we stand now we must faithfully proclaim the reality of Jesus as the King who is coming again! The desire of our souls should be to proclaim the truth of Christ so that as many people as possible will be prepared when He comes again! Our mission now should be to preach the truth of the gospel with our time on earth!

Father, give me a passion for the gospel and a desire to share the truth with as many as we can so that we can be together with you in eternity. Give me a clear picture of who you are so that I may love you more.
