The Need
Together as a church, we are giving in an abundant way through a movement called First Things First. There are three core priorities that are a part of that initiative: sharing the Gospel Through Our Ministry, being the Gospel In Our Community, and taking the Gospel To the World.
We’re giving to resource sharing the gospel through our ongoing weekly ministries, to reach out to the tens of thousands who are moving into our area and need Christ, causing our church to grow in an unprecedented way.
We are giving to the gospel in our community to expand our second worship venue, which is already at capacity in our Spanish service at 11:00am. We are giving to the gospel for the world to share the gospel in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, on the Texas border, and in the neediest areas of Houston.
Our need in these six final weeks of the year is to give $940,000 for the gospel through First Things First.
To do everything we believe God has called us to do, we must give these needed funds by the end of 2024. Our Best Gift will have a huge impact in how many people in our community and around the world can be changed by the gospel of Christ.
The Cause
The Cause of First Things First is Jesus Christ Himself. We are passionate about making Christ first in our lives personally and making His agenda first in our church. And this cause can be described in a single word—the Gospel.
Already our giving has had an incredible impact on our ability to share the gospel here in Houston and around the world. We have seen over 500 salvation responses in the past year through our local ministry, and nearly 700 salvation responses from sharing the gospel to the World.
In the last year, we’ve celebrated more baptisms than any other single year in our 34-year history as a church. Over the past two years, our average weekly attendance has grown by nearly 700, allowing us to reach hundreds more each week.
We are reaching kids and teenagers in an incredible way—making a huge impact on the next generation. All because of your generous giving to the gospel through First Things First.
Now we have the chance to make our Best Gift during the holiday season as we remember the gift God gave to us: His Son, Jesus.
The Heart
We are joyful about making our Best Gift through First Things First to the gospel—because learning to give generously to the things of God produces incredible joy in each of us who give.
Learning to give is an integral part of growing as a disciple of Christ. The more generous we grow, the more we grow like Christ who gave His life for us. Plus, we can see that the spread of the gospel in our community and the world moves at the speed of our giving—and we can know that we are a part of making that happen.
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT)
Sunday, November 24
As a part of the year-end Best Gift focus, we will be receiving a special Gospel for the World Offering on Sunday, November 24. 100% of what is given will go to our missions efforts at the El Salvador Mission Center, Mission Centers of Houston, and STCH’s Homes for Children.
